SlashU Season 3
Episode 39. AskU. This was a fun experiment episode for our Season 3 premier. We solicited our audience for questions on our social media channels. Then we gathered the best ones and went down the list answering them. It was sort of a "ask us anything" episode. We might have to try and go back to this since the audience has grown a little bit.
Episode 40. We got right back into the mix for Season 3. Starting out with another fun movie about a film crew trying to shoot a movie. That whole movie-within-a-movie plot trope can make for a pretty entertaining Slasher.
Episode 41. Oh wow, what a weird one. This movie featured the mentally deranged Buddy Bacon going on a killing spree at the behest of his father. It's another fun revenge story. The Bacon Boys don't want their old-fashioned slaughter house to get shut down so the best way to accomplish that is to kill everyone who gets in their way. Foolproof plan.
Episode 42. This one featured a starring role by Kristin Davis well before Sex and the City. When a car accident leaves a lawyer horribly disfigured, he takes over the asylum and makes it his killing field.
Episode 43. Here's another one that went down as one of the worst movies we've watched. The only thing that partly salvaged it was the nudity (like so many other campy slashers, right?). Have you ever been in a hospital where everyone is telling you you're crazy and you know they've all made some terrible mistake? Well, that's this movie.
Episode 44. We had a ton of fun roasting this movie. The story of poor Donny Kohler, traumatized by his mother, takes a weird turn later in the movie. It caused us to ask the question "Is Donny F**king the corpses?" And we've never stopped laughing about it.
Episode 45. This was another SlashU origin story. This movie is where we got our inside joke "I don't play by the rules." Your co-hosts had a heated debate about how killers don't follow the rules anyway. But when there's two killers and one of them is in charge of the other, that inherently makes "rules" that they follow. Anyway, you have to listen to fully appreciate it.
Episode 46. Another fun sorority-based slasher. A group of kids breaks into a big department store (owned by one of their fathers) as part of a hazing ritual for a sorority. Little do they know there's a killer on the loose stalking the store. This one comes with a twist at the end!
Episode 47. This movie was a fan suggestion and came with a bonus because it stars Bill Paxton! A young girl is having trouble dealing with the death of her father. There are signs of foul play involved. This movie also starred Lynda Day George and Christopher George from "Pieces." Remember them?
Episode 48. What do you do when the character in the movie is only 16, but the actress who plays her is over 18 and therefore gets topless in the movie? Confused feelings indeed. In this movie it seems everyone who shows romantic interest in Melissa, the new girl in town, ends up dead. Who's doing it and why?
Episode 49. Who knew there were so many slasher movies with "blood" in the title? We sure didn't but we're here for it. This one even stars Tiny Tim tip-toeing through the tulips as he plays a super creepy clown. Could he be the killer? Or is the killer hanging out in the abandoned barn that no one ever looks in that's only 50 yards away from the house?
Episode 50. Who's out killing members of the high school Majorette dance team? And does it have anything to do with the local gang causing trouble around the school? This was one of SlashU's most listened-to episodes for a long time.
Episode 51. Our first live podcast event. For our Halloween episode we played a movie at X-Ray Arcade, a cool little bar/concert venue in Milwaukee. The crowd gathered to watch Hack-O-Lantern, and we recorded a live episode of the podcast for the crowd's entertainment.
Episode 52. Filmed in someone's apartment with obviously one of the worst-quality camcorders ever, this one ranks right up there as one of the worst ones we've seen. Hey guess what, the killer uses a sledgehammer.
Episode 53. We bounced right back from the previous episode with this one. What Sledgehammer lacked in entertainment value, Don't Go in the Woods made up for in spades. Four friends go off on a hike in the forest only to stumble across the path of a maniacal killer.
Episode 54. One of the things we love here at SlashU is when a killer gets creative. What better way to spice up the way the victims die than using a tool box? I'll be honest though, it was pretty easy to figure out who the killer was in this one. Still worth the watch.
Episode 55. Theater actors are so dedicated to their craft. This movie was no exception. A group of actors lock themselves in the theater for rehearsal only to discover an insane killer is locked in there with them. Also he wore a weird Owl mask.
Episode 56. Somehow our killer in this movie was accidentally released. Whoops! He heads back to the town where he committed his crimes to enact revenge. The staff at the mental institution rush to try and cover up their mistake.
Episode 57. This one was a little weird. We jumped all the way back to 1978. A group of people attending their 10 year high school reunion get trapped by a masked preacher who kills them off as punishment for their sins.
Episode 58. The sequel to Silent Night, Deadly Night except it had a ton of footage from the original movie as flashbacks. So we found it to be just "ok" because if you watch this one, you essentially watched the first one again too.
Episode 59.
